Why Harsil

A Himalayan Valley That Still Feels Untouched

Harsil sits on the Bhagirathi at around 2620 metres, on the road to Gangotri. It is the kind of place travellers from Delhi dream of: apple orchards, towering deodar forests, snow-capped peaks and a river that never stops singing.

Made famous by Frederick Wilson, who first planted apples here in the 1800s, Harsil is still an orchard valley, quiet and uncrowded, a world away from the hill-station crowds. In spring the trees blossom; by autumn they hang heavy with the famous Harsil apples.

Around it lie Gangotri Dham, the winter seat of Maa Ganga at Mukhba, the orchards of Dharali, the Sattal lakes and the old Bhotiya village of Bagori. We bring it all together into one relaxed trip, based at our riverside resort in Uttarkashi.

Questions Travellers Ask Us

Honest answers, the same ones we give on the phone every day.

How many days do I need for a Harsil tour from Delhi?

Four to five days is comfortable: a day up, two in the valley for Harsil and Gangotri, and a day back. We can do a quicker three-day plan or extend it for treks and side valleys. Tell us your dates and we will suggest the best length on a call.

How far is Harsil from Delhi?

Harsil is roughly 450 to 480 km from Delhi by road, via Rishikesh and Uttarkashi. We base you at our resort in Uttarkashi, about 80 km before Harsil, which is the most comfortable place to stay and explore the valley from.

What is included in the package?

A riverside stay, pure vegetarian meals, guided sightseeing across the Harsil valley and Gangotri, and comfortable transfers, all shaped around your group. We do not run a fixed, one-size tariff. Call us and we will build your plan and share our best price.

Do you cover Gangotri Dham as well?

Yes. Gangotri Dham is about 25 km beyond Harsil and is included as a day trip from the valley, an easy and beautiful add to any Harsil itinerary in the Char Dham season.

Is Harsil good for families and senior citizens?

Very much so. The valley is gentle, the sightseeing needs no hard trekking, the base resort is comfortable and the kitchen is pure vegetarian. We slow the pace and plan shorter drives for families and elders.

When is the best time to visit Harsil?

April to June for apple blossom and pleasant weather, September to November for clear views and the apple harvest, and December to February for snow. Each season has its own charm. We will help you pick based on your dates.

What about mobile network and safety?

Harsil is a calm, safe Himalayan village. Mobile network is limited in the deeper valley (BSNL and Jio work best), which is part of its quiet appeal. Our team guides you on connectivity and the day plan.

How do I book the package?

Simply call us. We will plan your Harsil trip from Delhi, confirm the dates, and quote our best price. You pay nothing in advance to start planning.
