About Gangnani
Gangnani is a small roadside settlement where hot water rises from the hillside into a bathing tank, or kund. Pilgrims on the way to Gangotri stop for a warm bath, and local tradition links the spot to the sage Parashar. On a cold morning, steam rises off the water and the bath is a real treat after hours on the road.
What to expect
- Separate bathing areas are usually marked. Facilities are basic.
- Small dhabas nearby serve tea, parathas and Maggi.
- Carry a towel and a change of clothes.
- The water has a faint sulphur smell, which is natural.
