Uttarkashi Weather & Best Time to Visit: Month by Month
What the weather in Uttarkashi is really like each month, what to pack, and the best time to visit for temples, treks, snow and quiet.

Uttarkashi sits at about 1,150 m on the Bhagirathi, lower and milder than Gangotri or Harsil. Days are warm for most of the year and nights are cool. The two things that shape a trip here are the monsoon in July and August and the winter snow that closes the roads beyond Harsil.

For Gangotri and the Char Dham Yatra: late April to June, September to October
The temple is open, roads are generally clear and the weather is kind. May and June are the busiest weeks, so book rooms 4–8 weeks ahead.
For treks: April to June and September to November
October has the clearest skies for Dayara Bugyal, Dodital and Gaumukh. Avoid trekking in the monsoon.
For snow: late December to February
Uttarkashi town sees light snow some winters; Dayara Bugyal and Harsil get much more. Roads past Harsil may close.
For quiet and lower rates: July, August, December, January
